It's Sexy Saturday and we're admitting we're intrigued by sarcasm. Yes, it's a shield, protecting the individual using it. Who can resist someone so emotional they have to hide behind sharp and cutting words to keep others from getting close?
We love their biting wit, especially as it ironically draws people in with the hopes of getting to that gooey, soft interior.
Dean is a tough as nails guy who would wear his heart on his sleeve if not for the heavy armor of sarcasm he uses to protect himself. He's a brother and protector who has gone to hell and back to save the world. He loves deeper than he cares to admit. His cutting remarks help him survive and we can't get enough. "That's the problem. See, you don't think anybody's lying. I think everybody's lying. It's a gift."
As a backseat driver on Jaha's journey to the City of Light, his snarky commentary has provided an element of fun to the former Chancellor's quest for spiritual enlightenment. And who can forget his impeccable sense of direction
when Jaha heads the wrong way: "Camp You is that way."
Nick's sarcasm and dry wit, especially when combined with Schmidt's light-hearted humor or Jess' wide-eyed innocence, is the voice of snarky reason we all need in our lives. "When you put it like that, it sounds amazing...AND like prison."
From the very first episode, Espo was the smart ass with the cocky smile at the 12th precinct. He’s always quick to rib Beckett, his partner Ryan and most definitely Castle. But our favorite was when he told Beckett in the pilot episode, "A control freak like you with something you can't control? No, no. That's gonna be more fun than shark week."
Max has been working all her life, which has made her slightly bitter. Perhaps slightly is the wrong term. The good news is her sweet side comes out through her amazing cupcakes, but she hides it behind her emotional shield, snark. The end result is she's incredibly sexy in a hard, yet vulnerable way. "Twitter is stupid and Instagram is Twitter for people who can't read."
Damon is charming, seductive, arrogant, dark, funny and sadistic. He's both handsome and pretty, and males and females are both inexplicably drawn to him despite, or maybe because of his contradictory ways. Most of all, he's got a way with words. "I do believe in killing the messenger. Know why? It sends a message."
What fun is it being the Evil Queen if you can’t throw out some great one-liners.
She’s especially good at schooling the heroes in town when they get a little too self righteous like when she told Mary Margaret, "This could be the worst idea you've ever had and you hired the Wicked Witch as your nanny."
Tony uses his signature smile and quick wit to hide his more serious side, but we can’t say we don’t love every comical quip and apropos movie reference. No one does smart ass with as much style as DiNozzo. " [Tony answers the phone in front of two Teenagers] Ops. Yeah. It's DiNozzo. Hey Mattie, I need to requisition two sets of genital cuffs, and I gotta requisition the Mark-5 Taser again. No you don't have to clean them, I'll wear rubber gloves. Thanks."
Danny is a tough, top-notch detective, devoted husband and father and an all around smart ass. He’s especially good at using that talent when it comes to his siblings, like his sister, Erin. Erin: Do you think I'm too old to sell my body? - Danny: No, not to science anyway.
You can always count on Kol for a completely inappropriate, smartass remark, no matter whose body he's in. Those bodies always seem to be good looking to the point of distraction, but you'll hear no complaints from us! "I've met a lot of people and you don't particularly stand out."
Sue is a bully. She's a real pain in the ass and yet sometimes managed to unwittingly inspire Will with her forked tongue. To ease any doubts, Sue went out on top as Vice President of the US. Despite ourselves, we love to hate to love Sye Sylvester's wicked words. “You know what, I checked out of our conversation about a minute back, so good luck with your troubles, and I’m gonna make it a habit not to stop and talk to students because this has been a colossal waste of my time.â€
Blaine is cheeky, devious, and damn sexy for a zombie, no matter how pale his skin is. He blew into Liv's life spouting quite a few hilarious comebacks, and we're already in love with him. Ravi: Would you mind if I check inside your ears? ~ Blaine: Brother, you do what you gotta do. I'll drop trou if you think you can cure this.
He’s handsome, swings both ways in the romance department, has a unique fashion sense and his intelligence is only eclipsed by his love of sarcasm which he uses to get his point across and make us laugh at the same time. "I'm sorry, could you repeat that? Because all I could hear was the sound of my revenge-free summer being strangled to death by a web of thorns."
The more it's used, the more attractive these characters become. Does that make us troubled? Probably. You're in it with us because we're representing of our most popular shows! We're all suckers for the wounded warriors.
Who did we miss and who uses it best? Flip around the slideshow and let us know if we hit the mark.
