Brad Beyer has booked a two-episode arc on NCIS, according to TV Guide. He will play Marine Capt. Joe Westcott during November sweeps in a two-part story centered around military PTSD.
Beyer's character in the emotional storyline is described as an upstanding unit leader who returns from a tour of duty in Afghanistan after his best friend and many more of his men lose their lives.
As Gibbs and other investigators question him, he begins to show signs of post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), perhaps stemming from his relationship with his father, also a former Marine.
Executive producer Gary Glasberg hints at a "real connection" between Westcott and Gibbs.
The topic certainly could hit home with Gibbs' own agents. As if their jobs weren't stressful enough, the destruction of their headquarters will no doubt result in some post-traumatic feelings.
Beyer's resume includes appearances on Jericho, Third Watch, GCB, CSI: NY, NCIS: Los Angeles and The Mentalist. Sounds like his NCIS guest character will be one who really resonates.
