13 Shows Need to Be Canceled. Like... NOW!

First they failed to give fans the big, happy, wedding they deserved and bogged season 7 down with a convoluted disappearance story that made little sense. Who would think it could get worse? No one…until season 8 when the show split up Rick and Kate for LokSat, a conspiracy that makes no sense. Castle, a show that touted itself as an epic love story between a Writer and his Detective Muse has completely lost its way. The characters have gone in such different directions that it is almost unrecognizable as the show most fans fell in love with. Our hope is that both stars re-sign and the show can reset itself and go back to the epic Caskett romance where our favorite couple works together to solve quirky crimes. If that isn’t possible, then it should be allowed to rest in peace.

Reign should be canceled because they dropped the ball telling the story when Francis was still alive, and now he's dead. Gaining steam again will be difficult enough as it is, and they're also trying to jam Queen Elizabeth down our throats. It seems as if the hope was being placed on the fans love for Mary, but in having Mary step out on Francis for much of Reign Season 2, it was love lost, making the battle between queens a lot less lustrous. Time to make way for new programming, and if pilots ordered are any indication, The CW has a lot out there.

Alicia Florrick has been the good wife, the chated on wife, the cheating wife, and now the figure head wife. She’s been the new attorney, the renegade who started her own firm, the politician bogged down in scandal and now she’s back to starting her own firm once again. Her true love is dead and her marriage is a sham. Should Alicia now run for public office again? Finally divorce her husband? As much as we've loved the series, with the original showrunners on their way out, it may just be time to wrap up Alicia's story and move on.

The writers of NCIS managed to pull a rabbit out of their hat when Cote de Pablo left the series in NCIS Season 11 Episode 2. Ziva’s exit provoked some strong fresh plot writing, and the series seemed to pick up speed. The rest of the characters haven't evolved much, however. Gibbs remains taciturn and grumpy, Abby is an overgrown kid, Palmer continually fumbles, and McGee has gotten whiny. Bishop is still too new to the team. With the news that Michael Weatherly (Tony DiNozzo) is leaving at the end of NCIS Season 13, it's time to retire this series while they're still on a relatively high note with viewership numbers. Interest and the show's popularity will drop heavily once he's gone.

The Vampire Diaries has been on the air a whopping seven seasons now, which is an impressive feat for sure. They even managed to keep the show going, and maintain (some of) the audience's interest, after the departure of female lead Nina Dobrev at the end of the sixth season. Unfortunately, the show is beginning to show signs of its age-- it is often repetitive and low-stakes. Characters die and are resurrected practically every other episode, and subsequent villains have never remotely measured up to early S2/S3 Klaus Mikaelson (though Kai, brief as his reign of terror was, came pretty close). It's time to retire this supernatural teen drama while it still has a little bit of life left in it, instead of running it into the ground.

How many times can you realistically cheat death? That's the question that's begun to plague Supernatural as it lumbers on into its 11th season. Isn't it better to let the iconic show try and go out with a bang than to let it continue to trail off halfheartedly especially if either of the two stars, Jared Padalecki and Jensen Ackles decide that they want to move on. Perhaps the CW should wrap things up and give this show the proper spooky sendoff it deserves.
